Miller and Cuche strong in the Dolomites

December 17th, 2006

The Head-Tyrolia team keeps on being successful in the World Cup. At the downhill in Val Gardena and the giant slalom in Alta Badia Bode Miller and Didier Cuche fought for the victory and so backed up their excellent position in the overall World Cup ranking. Marco Buechel on position seven and Andreas Buder who became tenth topped off the downhill result successfully on the part of the Head-Tyrolia team.

Cuche and Miller with second positions
Two real classics were on the agenda in the Dolomites: The downhill on the Saslong in Val Gardena on Saturday, December 16th and the demanding giant slalom on the Gran Risa course in Alta Badia the following day. Like at the super G in Val Gardena the Head-Tyrolia racers were also brilliant at the downhill competition. This time it was Didier Cuche who missed his first victory of the season only by a hair. Nevertheless he stressed his excellent current shape – on his new Head-skis Cuche has evolved into an athlete who is able to win the overall World Cup. With position nine at the giant slalom he achieved a top ten result and therefore ranks on place two in the battle for the big crystal globe – ready to challenge position one.

Miller a candidate for victory - also at the giant slalom
Only shortly behind Cuche there is a second Head-Tyrolia new entrant, Bode Miller. With two victories this winter so far Miller proved that he is not only a man for the speed disciplines. With two strong runs he was the most constant skier in the field and so could be happy about the second place.
