Büchels Tenth Trip to the Podium
Marco Buechel already celebrated his only trip to the downhill podium last season. With his third place finish in Lake Louise, the 34-year-old gave evidence of his good form in the speed disciplines. It was the Head racers tenth trip to the podium. On the next day, Buechel wore Head skis and was once again the fastest in the Super-G. Despite poor visibility conditions, he skied great to earn sixth place.
Three Head Skiers in the Downhill Top Ten
Other Head athletes also had a good opening at the speed disciplines in Canada. In addition to Marco Buechel, both Klaus Kroell and Johann Grugger of Austria earned a top ten placement in the downhill, finishing 8th and 10th respectively. With his 16th place finish in the Super-G, Grugger was able to pick up more World Cup points. Italys Patrick Staudacher, another Head skier, finished three places ahead of the Austrian to make it to the top 20.
