The recent signing of Rainer Schönfelder and Anja Pärson has blessed the HEAD Team with two more highly talented athletes. The Swedish technical specialist Markus Larsson will for the next three years search success on HEAD equipment particularly in Slalom. After the tremendous success of last year’s World Cup, the HEAD Racing Team has with his signing further increased its presence and quality in the technical disciplines.
Markus Larsson started his World Cup career in November 1999 in Vail, CO (USA). Since then he was able to win already two World Cup Slaloms in 2006. Markus was one of the top contenders in 2006/2007 and finished the year on fourth place in the Slalom World Cup. He barely missed winning a medal at the slalom race at the World Championships 2005 in Bormio (ITA). A World Championship Medal is a very realistic goal for the 29 year old. His new HEAD equipment of ski, boot and binding is for Markus a major factor in realizing his goal: „Even though HEAD was having substantial success last winter, I am joining a team with a strong will to achieve even more; I am convinced that our cooperation will work and that together we can be the number one team also in Slalom. “
Anja Paerson another top athlete from Sweden has also joined the HEAD Team. This will have now an even bigger impact on the Scandinavian market. The Men’s Team with Bode Miller, Didier Cuche and Hermann Maier, whose main successes were in the speed disciplines, will be strengthened to establish a stronger position in the technical disciplines. HEAD Director of Racing also mentions this aspect: „We strive to be dominating the Ski World Cup in Slalom as we do already the other disciplines. The focus for Markus will be the Slalom but he also shows ambition to be successful in the other disciplines. We are looking forward to work with Markus to enable him to reach this goal. “
