The Streifalm at Kitzbühel seems to be a good place for the HEAD Racing Team, celebrating first and second place with Marco Büchel und Hermann Maier last year. In the Super-G, the traditional opener of the Hahnenkamm races, Hoffmann started strong, but after the sections “Lärchenschuss“ and “Seidelalm-Jump“ he faced a lag in time.
But then the Swiss chose the best line over the “Hausberg“ and thru the extreme icy and steep cross section. Thanks to the speed of his HEAD skis he jumped on first place at that time. At least third place means his career's fifth World Cup podium for Hoffman, the first since 2005. Facing the alpine World Championships in France in February, the highlight of the season, he is now one of the top favorites for the medals.
