HEAD player Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia claimed his first title in the new season at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2007 in Doha. In the final he defeated fellow HEAD player Andy Murray from Scotland 6-4, 6-4.
“We are thrilled to introduce our newest partner at the Qatar Open, playing with our newest racquet and newest technology,” said Robert Marte, Division Manager, HEAD Racquetsports. “And Ljubicic had outstanding immediate success on the court.”
This is Ljubicic’s first tournament playing with HEAD’s new Extreme Pro racquet, designed for today’s aggressive style of play. The Extreme Pro, which will be introduced to trade in late first quarter, features HEAD’s new MicroGEL technology which maximizes the responsive qualities of the racquet to create an explosive spin.
On ball impact, HEAD MicroGEL uniformly distributes the impact load around the frame circumference providing a rock-solid feel and unique touch.
Ljubicic, two-time runner-up in Doha, reached the final with a 3-6, 6-4, 7-6, by saving two match points against fellow HEAD player Robin Söderling of Sweden. Söderling plays with a HEAD Flexpoint Radical MP racquet.
“I am very happy with my performance,” said Ljubicic, after recovering from an illness last season. “The new Extreme Pro handles very well for my style of play – it’s perfect for my game.”
