HEAD Pros Swing to Success in Los Angeles

HEAD players Victoria Azarenka and Virginie Razzano reached the quarterfinals at the East West Bank Classic in Los Angeles this weekend.

Azarenka defeated Kateryna Bondarenko of Ukraine 6-1, 6-2. The win advanced Azarenka, who plays with HEAD MicroGel Extreme Pro, to the quarterfinals where she competed against 22-year-old Jelena Jankovic.
Azarenka, an 18-year-old playing her second season on the WTA tour, was the 2005 Australian and U.S. Open junior champion. Jankovic, who has four titles under her belt this year, defeated Azarenka 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-2.
Fellow HEAD player, Razzano of France, stopped Indian tennis pro Sania Mirza with a straight set 6-1, 7-6, (8-6). Ranked 22 places behind Mirza’s WTA ranking of 30, the 24-year-old Razzano held her own and won the match in one hour and 26 minutes.

Razzano, who plays with the HEAD Flexpoint Radical MP, won 85 percent of her first serve points, allowing her to compensate for her nine double faults in the match.

Razzano went on to play Nadia Petrova, but was defeated 6-7 (3/7), 6-4, 6-1.
