HEAD Pros dominate BCR Open in Romania

HEAD players fought for success at recent tournaments in Bucharest, Romania and Beijing, China. In Bucharest, all four semi finalists play HEAD racquets!

HEAD player Gilles Simon of France reached the title match by first beating fellow HEAD player Carlos Berlocq of Argentina, in the semifinals at the BCR Open in Romania. At the tournament’s final match, Simon experienced victory against another HEAD player and unseeded local hero, Victor Hanescu of Romania, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. Sixth-seeded Simon, who plays with the Flexpoint Prestige MP, came back after a set down and continued his confidence into the third set against Hanescu.

The final match was Victor Hanescu’s first time in the finals. Prior to his loss against Simon, the Romanian beat No. 3 seed Potito Starace and No. 8 seed Albert Montanes. Hanescu uses the Flexpoint Prestige Mid.

French qualifier and Head player Gael Monfils, who plays with the Flexpoint Prestige Mid, advanced to the semifinals on Friday after beating Marc Gicquel 6-4, 6-2. Monfils previously reached the quarter-finals by beating No. 2 seed Filippo Volandri.

Croatian Ivan Ljubicic, ranked 12 in the world reached the semi final of the China Open after eliminating No. 5 seed Marcos Baghdatis (CYP) in a thrilling 3 set match, which took almost 2 and a half hours.

Ljubicic, who plays with the MicroGel Extreme Pro, went on to compete against Fernando Gonzalez, the tournament’s champion. After winning the first set, he was finally defeated in another exciting 3 sets 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
