HEAD Pros Advance in Beijing and Bangkok

HEAD players enjoyed success last week at various tournaments around the world.

At the China Open, Beijing HEAD player Dudi Sela defeated top seeded players to advance to the first ATP final of his career. Sela defeated No. 1 seed David Ferrer 6-3, 6-3 and moved on to the quarterfinals where he beat No. 6 seed Tommy Robredo 6-4, 6-1. In the semifinals, Sela defeated No. 7 seed and fellow HEAD player Rainer Schüttler 6-3, 6-3 and moved on to face Andy Roddick in the final round. Sela eventually lost to Roddick 4-6, 7-6, 3-6.

Svetlana Kuznetsova, who plays with the MicroGel Extreme MP also reached the final round of the women’s competition in Beijing after defeating Zheng Jie of China 7-6 (7/3), 7-5. Kuznetsova eventually lost to No. 1 seed Jelena Jankovic 3-6,2-6.

Meanwhile, in the doubles competition, HEAD player Anabel Medina Garrigues won the title with her partner Caroline Wozniacki after a 6-1, 6-3 victory against Xinyun Han and Yi-Fan Xu from China.

Gael Monfils, who plays with the MicroGel Prestige Mid, advanced to the semifinals of the Thailand Open after a 7-6(6), 6-4 victory over Philipp Petzschner of Germany. Monfils lost in the semifinal to eventual winner Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 0-6, 3-6.
