    Holding six Pan American Championship gold medals already, HEAD Penn’s Paola Longoria was able to add another to her collection with her win in the Women’s Singles Division at the 2013 Pan Am Championships in Colombia. Paola’s haul of seven gold medals now sits at second place all-time record behind fellow HEAD Penn player Jackie Paraiso who has won 10 gold medals in Pan American Championship play.

Some days ago, also another Head swimmer, Andriy Govorov, won three gold medals on Ukranian National Championship in Dnipropetrovsk: 50m fly, 50 free and 4 x 100m medley.

  • Team HEAD Penn’s Taylor Knoth Completes Championship College Career

    For the fourth time in as many years, HEAD Penn’s Taylor Knoth reached the final of the USA Racquetball Intercollegiate Championships Men’s Singles Division. As a freshman in 2010 playing for the University of Oregon, Knoth stormed his way through the draw, but fell in the final to a player who is now a top playing professional. After a transfer to Oregon State University in 2011, Taylor propelled the Beavers to a National Team Championship while winning one of his own in the Men’s Singles Division. Last year Knoth battled through some injuries, but he was able to reach the final before suffering defeat. This year - Taylor’s senior year – saw no defeats as he brought home the Men’s Singles and Men’s Doubles National Intercollegiate Championships!

    Last year in her hometown of Portland, HEAD Penn’s Lexi York became the first freshman in 12 years to win the Girl’s Singles National High School Racquetball Championship. This year in St. Louis she repeated the accomplishment to remain on track in the hope of sweeping the High School National Championship in four consecutive years. The last player to win the National Championship during all four years of their high school career was current HEAD Penn professional touring player Adrienne Fisher Haynes (2000-2003).

    When Paola Longoria stepped on the court for the Championship Final of the 2013 Winter Classic in Kansas over the weekend, it had been 1 year, 9 months and 23 days since she lost a match on the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT). That’s 665 consecutive days, or 57,456,000 seconds, or 15,960 hours or 95 weeks since Longoria did not come away the victor. No matter how you calculate it, it has been a very, very long time! And the result in Overland Park was the same as the previous 16 LPRT events with Paola winning yet another title.
