Finland’s most successful downhiller, Andreas Romar, left Atomic after 7 years of co-operation and has signed a deal with Austrian ski maker HEAD. Romar, who is one of the most talented young racers at the WC tour, joins Norwegian Aksel Lund Svindal, Kjetil Jansrud and other Rebels at HEAD’s „World Cup Rebels team“.
Romar, who originates from the flattest part of Finland where hills are a rarity and when a hill is to be found, they size way below 100 meters in height, is advancing in his off-the-beaten-track to the world’s speed elite. This season the flying Finn scored at 5th position in the World Championship downhill race at Schladming.
“This is a very thrilling challenge for me, I’m very happy to be part of the HEAD group of top skiers who have done so well in major events“, says Romar. “I hope to be able to contribute strongly to HEAD’s success in coming years. My main goal is to become one of the best downhillers in the world.”
“Andy is very talented and he has a great character. He perfectly fits in our team,” says Rainer Salzgeber, Director of the HEAD Race Department. “He will help us to prepare a bright future for HEAD. We think he will be a very appealing role model for all younger skiers encouraging them to follow their own paths.”
