Fenninger takes second on the Raptor in Beaver Creek
November 30th, 2013

Anna Fenninger produced a measured performance to take second place in the opening Super G of the season. This was the HEAD World Cup Rebel’s tenth World Cup podium in Super G in her career. With Lara Gut leading in the finish, Fenninger held her own against the time of the Swiss racer on her run. At the finish she had to settle for second with Niki Hosp in third after Lizz Goergl was disqualified after having been in second.

Fenninger is benefitting from the hard work that was put in during the summer by both herself and the development team. From three races on the World Cup she has now taken three top five results, this being the best to date. “It's getting better, but of course I'm happy," she explained after the race.

Fenninger had the fastest splits of all the racers at the top of the course. Despite starting at the back of the top seeds, when earlier start numbers had the better of the course, this was a great performance by Fenninger. "For now, I believe I am stronger in super g races than I am in downhill", she said. "In yesterday's downhill race I made too many mistakes. I managed to ski better today especially in the upper part. Unfortunately I lost speed and time in the bottom part. But overall being on the podium is a really good feeling."

With the Raptor course proving to be a gnarly and exciting yet turny course for its first public outing, clean lines and smooth runs were the name of the game. Fenninger used all her Giant Slalom skills to gain maximum benefit through the turny section of the course before the long gliding section into the finish.

Maria Hoefl-Riesch added another top ten result to her results list with eighth place while Ramona Siebenhofer produced a great performance to score her first World Cup points in Super G with 22nd from a start number of 35.

In the race for the Overall, Anna Fenninger is now in second spot after four races with Maria Hoefl-Riesch in third. Lara gut leads at the moment.
