Expert reviews of the RADICAL 2025 series
All this versatility is going to make you very happy: the RADICAL 2025 tennis racquet series puts a smile on people’s faces, according to a reviewer, while one expert said he “couldn’t be more positive” about the model he play-tested. “I’m a RADICAL guy – I like RADICAL racquets and always have,” another reviewer declared after trying the new frames. “Terrific”, “fantastic” and “fun” were some of the other reviews from experts. “An absolute beast,” one reviewer said after hitting some serves.
HEAD’s iconic RADICAL series, which is more than 30 years old, has been updated with the introduction of advanced Auxetic 2.0 technology, which delivers excellent stability and a crisp feel. With its combination of spin and control, the versatile RADICAL 2025 series allows you to play every shot everywhere. The fiery new cosmetic also got the reviewers talking, with one describing the color as “showstopping fluorescent orange”.
See what the experts had to say about the RADICAL 2025 series, about how it performs and about a new design that will get you noticed.
Solow Sports reviewed the RADICAL MP:
“Showstopping fluorescent orange… the first thing you notice before you even swing at the ball has to be this bright orange,” the reviewer said of the design. “It’s positively stunning. I think it looks great. It’s very distinctive and noticeable from four or five or six courts down. This is a racquet that is going to stand out on TV and you’ll see it and then you’ll want to go and get one. This color is bright and vibrant and fantastic. It will turn heads and might even distract your opponent for the first couple of points. Enjoy those free points while you can get them.”
The reviewer said the RADICAL MP would be a great choice for “super-aggressive” players and particularly liked how it performed when hitting volleys. “Where this racquet shines, other than with the bright cosmetic, is up at net. I was able to punch volleys, I felt very comfortable and I didn’t have to over-think it,” the expert said. “It was really simple. The feel was fantastic with the Auxetic 2.0 technology. I felt a little more connected and there was a little more of a crisp sensation. I really enjoyed that about this. It’s definitely a great volleying racquet. I would definitely like to bring this out on the doubles court with me because I was just able to put stuff away and it felt absolutely fantastic.”
Alex Tennis reviewed the RADICAL TEAM:
There was lots of easy power with the RADICAL TEAM, according to this reviewer. “From the get-go, you feel as though the sweetspot is pretty big and it’s easy to hit a great ball. You have easy depth and a good amount of spin if you’re trying to generate topspin and, if not, it’s going to be flat. It’s easy to grind from the baseline,” the expert said of a racquet that is “incredible with the serve”, particularly flat serves.
The reviewer would recommend the “comfortable” RADICAL TEAM to an intermediate player or beginner wanting “to feel a bit of control but who still needs a little bit of power to help you generate a great ball from the baseline”. He also said it would suit juniors making a transition to adult frames.
PH Tennis reviewed the RADICAL PRO:
Right from the start, the two reviewers loved the RADICAL PRO. “When we test a racquet our first response is really telling and both of us instantly went, ‘Ooh, this is nice, we like it’. It plays so much lighter than its static weight. It feels light and easy and maneuverable while being a good solid control frame. It’s a fantastic combination. It feels like an attacking racquet that gives you some control. It gives you the confidence to have huge swings at the ball, and to be really aggressive, but it’s then like a safety net,” one reviewer said.
“It kind of does everything. When you need it to be stable and strong and heavy and powerful, it is. But when you need it to be light and maneuverable and whippy, it is, which is amazing. At the net, it urges you to be more proactive and positive. It’s almost like the racquet is demanding it’s used in a certain way and if you get it right it’s saying, ‘Thank you, this is how I want to be used and now I’m going to let you play brilliant tennis’. If you’re strong enough to use a 315 grams racquet, you’ve got to try it. If you’re worried about it being heavy, you should give it a go as it doesn’t feel like it is.”
The expert urged people to test the RADICAL PRO. “If you like having a bit, long cut at the ball, if you like being on the front foot, if you like having fun on the tennis court, and being expressive and creative, you’ve got to try it. Get on court and give it a try. I couldn’t be more positive.”
The second reviewer said he was “really impressed” with the RADICAL PRO. “This is a terrific racquet. It’s fantastic. It feels so maneuverable. It feels to me like a fun control racquet. It’s a control frame with a little orange twist,” he said.
Among so many other positive comments, the reviewers marvelled at how the introduction of Auxetic 2.0 technology had improved the feel and power of the RADICAL 2025 racquets, as well as providing “responsive stability”.
Tennis Nerd reviewed the RADICAL PRO and RADICAL MP:
The orange design is unmissably bright and bold, in keeping with the RADICAL’s history of having an “out-there” look, this reviewer said. “I’ve been a fan of the RADICAL ever since the dawn of this iconic racquet. The RADICAL always had an out-there look, paired with Andre Agassi’s out-there clothes. And that keeps on going – it’s now orange. The orange is strong. You have a strong neon color. Most people I talk to really like it. If you like a colorful racquet, HEAD has you covered. I think it looks pretty good,” the reviewer said.
Playing with the RADICAL PRO makes people smile, according to the expert. “Even though it’s the most demanding and the heaviest racquet [in the RADICAL series], people love it. They love the feel and the feeling of being in control of where the ball is going. The RADICAL kind of puts a smile on people’s faces. People like the RADICAL and I’m a big fan of it, too,” he said.
“The Auxetic 2.0 has made the sweetspot a little bit bigger and made the racquet a little bit more forgiving and comfortable to use. I took it to an event in Switzerland where everyone could test racquets and everyone really loved it. That was players from intermediate level to advanced. They all loved this frame. The RADICAL has something which puts a smile on people’s faces. If you’re an advanced player and you like pin-point precision and control, I think the PRO should be your choice. The PRO is great.”
The RADICAL MP offers dependability and boosts your confidence. “A little more comfort [than the previous generation]. Bit of a larger sweetspot, a bit easier to use than the previous generation. Maybe a little more power than the previous generation. I felt right at home from the get-go,” he said. “I really like it. Thumbs up. I loved the previous one and I still really like this one. It’s an excellent racquet. If you like control and if you want to swing with confidence, the RADICAL is where it’s at.”
Testing the RADICAL PRO and the RADICAL MP reminded the reviewer why he loves the series: “I’ve been talking to a lot of players testing these frames and it’s a winner. People really like these racquets, the MP and the PRO. If you’re looking for control, this is one of the best control racquets on the market, very versatile and user friendly. It’s hard not to like it when you play with it because the ball goes where you want it to go and you can still swing it relatively fast. I’m a RADICAL guy. I like RADICAL racquets and always have.”
Tennis Warehouse reviewed the RADICAL PRO:
Testing the RADICAL PRO was fun for one reviewer, who noted how the racquet gave him “good pace and decent spin”. “My favourite shot with this new RADICAL was the serve. I found good pace on that stroke and really liked the way the ball went through the court. I really felt like it was a penetrating serve I was hitting,” he said. “That also translated well into overheads. I felt as though I hit my hardest ever overhead. I was really happy with the performance at net. I felt pretty connected to my volleys.”
Another reviewer could feel how the new technology had improved the racquet. “Really good feedback and nothing uncomfortable. I think I would credit that to the Auxetic 2.0,” said the expert, who loved serving with the racquet: “On serves it’s an absolute beast. The kickers were absolutely amazing.”
With the RADICAL PRO, you’re getting a lot of control over the ball, according to a third reviewer: “I could hit the ball and place I where I want.” The reviewer has been playing with RADICAL racquets and approved of what HEAD has done with this new generation: “All in all, I really like this update.”
Time to put a smile on your face
That’s what the experts say. But what do you think? Why not try a racquet from the RADICAL 2025 series and see whether it also puts a smile on your face?

"Experienced players will appreciate the predictable power this racquet can generate," one reviewer said of the RADICAL PRO, which is made for all-court tournament players who love to mix it up. "This has always been one of my favorite racquets from HEAD and... with this Auxetic update, this is playing even more solid. This racquet was absolutely amazing, especially off my backhand. I loved hitting backhands. I felt like it was explosively fast yet still super stable and gave me a good amount of plow through. I felt really in command of my targeting. I loved it on serves. I could hit big first serves."
Another reviewer spoke of "a really nice update" to the RADICAL PRO. "I've always been a big fan of the RADICAL series. I was a huge fan of the previous version and I was super excited to hit with this one. Right off the bat, I noticed this racquet had better dampening and felt more solid... I got better plow through. I felt like I was hitting with more depth. I was able to dig my way out of defensive situations better. I had a little more pop on my serves. There was a bit more weight on my shots in general. Spin production was super nice on this one. I loved it at net. Super solid with the volleys and got plenty of touch and feel if I wanted to hit those sneaky angles or drop shots."

Impressed by the introduction of the Auxetic technology, the reviewers had good things to say about the new RADICAL. From "another hit from HEAD" to "very maneuverable and versatile” to “easy to pick up and play".
“Overall, if you’re a RADICAL user, it’s a definite improvement,” one reviewer said. “However, it’s similar. You can tell it’s the same family of racquet and that’s great as you won’t have to relearn a lot of different feelings and shots. But you’ll generate a bit more power and be a bit more comfortable, especially when you start attacking more.”
Another reviewer said he was “sold” on the new RADICAL. “I really like it. Definitely an upgrade. It’s going to be hard for me to move away from it now. I’m really on board with this Auxetic technology. It’s so easy to swing compared to other frames and on contact it’s right where I want it to be.” Serving is “joyful”, according to one reviewer. “Really nice, really easy. Straightaway on my first serve, I was getting some pop, getting some power,” he said.

"A big improvement from the previous generation," one reviewer said about the RADICAL MP, which is ideal for all-court performance players. "The Auxetic technology really softens the racquet up and makes it a lot more comfortable. And, in my opinion, makes it a lot more accessible to all players. This is a great racquet and gave me a whole lot of confidence in the court. I would recommend this racquet to an intermediate player. This racquet is very easy to use and there's a lot you can do with it, in terms of topspin, power and precision.”
Another reviewer noted that the Auxetic technology is "a really nice addition to this frame". "It's fast, easy to swing and really excels from all areas of the court. One of my favorite things about the RADICAL MP is that it's really easy to generate racquet speed if you don't have a lot of time. When I was rushed and felt as though I couldn't create any pace, a flick of the wrist and I felt as though I was right back to neutral and even in control of the rally. This racquet helps you feel connected to the ball while still maintaining comfort. The RADICAL MP is going to be a stand-out for those intermediate players who want a racquet that's very fast and very forgiving. All in all, it's a really nice update.”
